For some reason I have the worst luck in the entire world. I must have left my wallet at the check out even though I usually never set it down. Luckily it was returned after 4 hours of it’s disappearance and when I went to get it all my cash was stolen and my wallet was damaged. I don’t know why I manage to have such bad luck but anyway. On a positive note I am really excited to see my mom and aunt in a week! I miss them both very much and it will be nice to have the company! Today I will be going to magic kingdom on my day off to ride some rides! hooray!

So not only do I look like Miley Cyrus…

but for the first time, I was told I look like her too.  Keep in mind I have been sick for a few days now and yesterday and today I was borderline without a voice.  Here I thought I just sounded like an old man but after talking with this little girl I heard her say “Mom that girl sounds just like miley cyrus” OF ALL PEOPLE! Anyway, I also learned how much I rely on my phone in awkward situations such as being alone on break or on the bus…. both of which happened to me pretty much everyday but I usually have my phone to distract me but no, not today. Also, I am convinced that Disney puts some sort of mosquito trap in Frontierland. I swear every time I work there I get bit more than anywhere else! True story.

Over the past few weeks…

I have experienced both the worst and best guest experiences.  I had my first crazy guest that yelled at me for nothing… actually something that was his fault but since I can’t say that I just apologized and moved on but I have noticed that with my job the most complaints are from the people who get free stuff which just doesn’t make sense to me. I’ve also noticed that people loooooove to talk about where they are from when they are on vacation… seriously. When its not very busy at work and people either say something to me about being from texas or I notice they are wearing a shirt I strike up a conversation based on that and they get so excited. hahah. Also, one night I was working and a guest walked up to me and a few of my coworkers and asked if he could take a picture of us. He told us that it was a tradition that one his last day of his stay he took a picture of some cast members and told us how much he appreciated our hard work. It was so nice! On an unrelated note I really need to keep count of how many people think I look like Miley Cyrus. yesterday on the bus a girl said I looked like her and I decided that I should have been keeping count this whole time. haha. Do I really look like her that random people keep telling me I do. Since I’ve been here I’ve been told at least 5 and been asked for my autograph. If i ever meet her i’m going to take a picture so I can see it. We’ll see if that will ever happen. Anyway, I’m still having lots of fun! I am meeting way more people then I have when I first started and I’m finding it easier to meet people than it was before, which is good! I still have 2 and a half more months on this program!

No big deal, someone really thought I was Hannah Montana yesterday. How is it that people either really think I look like her or that I look nothing like her. I just don’t understand.

Guest experiences

With my job, I am constantly talking to guests and with that comes some very interesting comments and questions. For example two foreigners told me I had beautiful eyes, one told me I had beautiful teeth and one told me I was a princess in disguise. Some quests, I swear leave their brains at the hotel when they come to the park.  I work at Magic Kingdom and was asked where Tower or Terror was. I was also asked where the runaway ride was, why the train is listed as an attraction at frontierland, and my favorite so far if the banana with nuts has nuts in it…. Because I couldn’t legally say uhhhh duh I had to point to the word nuts on the sign…  I have a feeling that is just the beginning of the stupid questions I will get. Actually working at the park is so different than visiting because I see backstage and rehearsals for the parades. Not to mention I see these parades every single day. I am starting to enjoy my time here because I am getting use to the way the way things work with my job and am meeting people that I work with. Plus being able to go to the parks on my days off is a huge bonus :)

First day of training was today and I took in a lot of information. After all the lectures, powerpoints, and videos we got our Disney ID’s and nametag :)! The only bad part was as soon as it was over it was raining pretty bad and here I am in my dress pants and fancy blouse and then the buses were heavily air conditioned and normally that would be a good thing but with the rain it was freezing! I was going to go ahead and go to the park tonight using my ID but because of the rain and the training class I am really tired. Plus my bed is broken so I haven’t slept good at all but hopefully that will be fixed soon. Butttttttt I will be working at Magic Kingdom so no worriess I will be going a lot :). Anywayyyy, so far so good. Only two more days of training then i’ll probably have my first real day on monday!

The journey from Texas to Florida.

After making the 18 hour drive from central texas to the number one tourist city in the U.S. I arrived in one piece nervous an excited about what to expect. Most of the people that know me, know that I have been a fan of Disney since I was a child and being able to embark on this journey of actually working here is an experience I am grateful for. I am looking forward to experiencing a side of Disney that I never have before and finally stepping out of my comfort zone and transitioning into an adult. With this transition, I am hoping that with it will come an idea for my future and change my undecided major into well… a decided one. I have already met some great people which makes me happier about my decision to come here. All my roommates are super nice and I can’t wait to get to know them even more.  Though saying goodbye to all my friends and family was a lot harder than expected, I know in the end this experience will be worth it and better myself.
